Sunday Gratitude – 2.VI.2024

Despite this being the beginning of summer vacation, it’s been a very busy week.

I am grateful that I managed to accomplish some things around the house and that slowly things seem to be improving. I am thankful that there seems to be some sort of path to accomplishing a huge project without having all the other pieces perfect first. I suppose that it ought to be a lesson to me that perfection is not a prerequisite to moving forward.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have gotten to catch up with a few people, either by text, phone, or *gasp* actually meeting in person.

I am grateful that despite the expenses that have made themselves apparent this week, I’m not freaking out.

I am grateful for weather that isn’t intensely hot or humid.

I am grateful to be able to give people things that seem to be useful to them. I am grateful to have gotten a number of things that are not useful to anyone anymore out of the house.

I am very grateful to the priest who is hearing my confessions. He’s an excellent priest, and hopefully he’s able to keep doing what he’s doing for a good long time.

I am deeply grateful for all of you. You are amazing! Thank you.

  1. I like this: “Perfection is not a prerequisite to moving forward.”

And getting some things out of your house — I really can relate to the good feeling of moving forward in that way. Good for you, in being consistent in your habit of a Sunday Gratitude post. God bless you, Katja!

As far as the perfection stuff – in this case, it would be much preferable to me that all the rooms be in order first before moving/buying things, but that’s become exceedingly apparent that it won’t happen. It kind of feels like a big game of “There’s a hole in my bucket…” But the boy’s dresser broke awhile ago, and thinking about the issue, it seemed like there was possibility here… (Well, if I move that out, I can move this in, and if I can put the clothes in this closet in bins, I’ll have room to put the suitcases there and move things from the other closet…) And so I’m vacuuming and carpet cleaning sections of rooms and such, but at least it seems something is happening. One of the dressers I got rid of was in the basement, and being down there reminded me today that there are a couple of broken microwaves. The one was a really nice model and only had issues with the latch, but the other one died and should have been tossed immediately… But they probably both ought to go, and every little bit helps. It just feels like such a pressing thing right now, but I think getting this done will make all three girls happier and this summer is probably the best chance to do it (especially no longer having a kid 3 or under in the house!)
