Sunday Gratitude – 7.I.2024

To those celebrating Christmas today – Christ is Born!

I should have been in church this morning, but one of the kids wasn’t feeling well, then kept waking up with a pain in the ear, and as a result, I was probably up at least six times between midnight and 4:30am. No, it wasn’t going to be a day where I got the kids up and going for an early church service. Besides, I was kind of dreading going to Christmas services twice. I’m grateful that once I turned the humidifier on full blast, the child seemed seemed able to sleep and the next time I looked at the clock, it was 10:45am.

I’m grateful that I got to catch up on sleep a little last weekend, and that New Year’s was a quiet affair.

I’m grateful that the kids and I got to spend a little time with the neighbors who were visiting; I’m glad that I got past my nervousness and suggested “spur of the moment” plans that ended up being a lot of fun.

Despite everything, I’ve been on a fairly even keel for the last month or so, I’ve felt that despite everything, God is in control. As things kind of sink in, by the end of the week, I felt like Peter taking his eyes off Christ as he was walking on the sea and just starting to drown & right there was someone to talk to to help me back up, and I’m so very thankful for that.

It looks like we might get hit with a lot of snow this week, which reminded me of a pair of boots that I saw at Land’s End awhile back. I decided to check again to see if they might be on sale or clearance, but they weren’t. However, I noticed that they weren’t actually a Land’s End item, so I checked the website of the company that made the boots. By going with another color and using a coupon code, I managed to buy the boots for roughly half of what they were on Land’s end.

I got myself a USB rechargeable book light, and I hope this makes me more prone to reading. I really hope to read more consistently this year. It’s something I miss, and I really enjoy them. (And my TBR pile is insane – I got a LOT of books in 2023!)

I’m grateful I remembered to call in my credit card payment with about an hour and a half to spare! I’m thankful that, if nothing went wrong, the car’s last payment happened this week.

I’m grateful for God’s Love which is around me all the time.

I’m grateful for the patience so many people have had with me.

As always, I am thankful for you.
