Sunday Gratitude – 7.IV.2024

The week started out busy – as is normal – and then slowed down considerably due to my stomach being at a fair amount of unease on and off since Wednesday. It’s weird because I have the propensity to try to ignore things like that until I’m ready to fall over, but this time I felt like I didn’t have much choice than to slow down even though I wasn’t at that point. In a strange (or not so strange) way, it’s been a blessing because I’ve still been able to have conversations with people and even make it to church, but I’ve had to really cut back on a lot of work and whatever this thing is, it’s kind of resetting some eating habits, which is part of what we’re supposed to be doing during Lent anyway.

I am thankful, too, just to be able to use some of the “down” time just to be with my youngest. She’s often amusing herself during the day while I’m trying to get “stuff done”. With me not getting “stuff done”, she got to spend quite a bit of extra time in my lap at the end of the week, and I’m thankful for that. It won’t be so long when that’s not going to be something she wants to do at all.

I had more than one opportunity to connect with friends, both in real life and over the phone, and I’m grateful for that. I’m grateful to have connected with somebody whom I didn’t know well before, with whom I think there’s common enthusiasm. The funny thing is, too, that something came up where I was thinking of him, but I didn’t know how to contact him since he’s moved to a different area, and lo and behold, he showed up to visit at church today!

I’m grateful for the spring, even as crazy as this spring has been. We had snow again on Wednesday, the poor daffodils were covered and I meant to get a picture, but it had pretty much melted already by the time the snow stopped.

I’m thankful for continued curiosity, even when it seems to drive me down rabbit holes of “useless” information. I don’t know that I could see the world in the same way if I didn’t think that it was important to learn about things to understand them better.

Thank you so much for reading; as always, I am grateful for your time, your thoughts, and your prayers.
