The last week and a half has been quite warm with temperatures in the mid-80s. This is a bit warmer than my ideal, and between those temperatures and no rain for over two weeks, the incredible green of the grass around here gave way to yellow and brown. The trees, too, are starting to change color, still barely perceptible, but with each passing day appearing a larger hint of impending autumn. We got some rain this past Tuesday or Wednesday morning, but practically all of today has been wet, and the tumultuous winds outside give every indication that they are doing away with summer once and for all. I am thankful for the rain, and even the cooler temperatures; when I managed to make it outside to walk, I don’t like it when it’s already quite warm before 6am.
I’m thankful that I’ve been able to get the kids where they’ve needed to go the last couple of weeks. I think there must be ways to streamline the process, but at the moment, I’m driving at least 3.5 hours a day. I’m thankful that even if I think it’s mind-numbingly mundane, I was able to avoid an accident and even when I’ve missed turns and such, these haven’t been huge mistakes.
I’m grateful that I have friends to call and meet up with. I’m struggling with feeling stretched – part of me is more than content to hide behind the computer screen my whole life – but there’s something incredibly important about reaching out in a more human way.
I’m grateful for a little quiet now, and I’m looking forward to a bit of a “mini-retreat”, for which I am grateful to have the opportunity to attend.
I’m grateful to have been able to catch up on sleep a little – I’ve really noticed how much less I hurt when I have something approaching an adequate amount of sleep.
Forgive me for the sparse posting; I still am grateful to you and your support.
